Help for a friend ^__^

A friend of mine asked to help out with another project she's working on, for publishing a recipe book for kids. She wanted essentially some cute looking kids in different styles (I don't think I varied it enough style wise) but just a few designs to help out so she could explore thoroughly what her client wanted.

I've been drawing a lot of creatures lately, and and it's been a while since I've drawn something cartoony and cute, and so I thought I'd put those sketches and drawings up here. I may explore and colour a few... maybe.

Some Character Practice Painting

No creatures this week, but been trying to improve on my people painting... updates to follow :-)

I was going to attempt to paint armour over this one, but I liked how his torso came out so I just added some blood and scars and called it done. I feel like I'm getting better at painting skin and people, and will do a few more individuals before trying to do a painting with full character, creature and environment setting.

The foreshortening on his arm still bothers me a little, but onward to more paintings!

I realize that I really need to practice painting faces more... Also... that leg needs fixing. Sigh, so far to go.

I meant to do sketches for each of the ones that I decided to paint in colour, but the final guy in th eline up stole the show. I was thinking of primates mostly with this one, gorillas in particular, with the huge arms and what's not. I think they came out okay.
